FAQs
Why would I want to run this test?
The CDC has shown that detecting SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater is a leading indicator for future cases. This information can help you get in front of an outbreak and take the necessary remediation steps early.
Which genes are you testing for?
We test for SARS-CoV-2 ORF1ab and N genes. These two targets combine provide a better sensitivity for the virus because the N gene covers the capsid of the virus and the ORF1ab is specific to the viral RNA of the COVID-19 virus inside the capsid.
What controls are used in the testing?
Positive, negative, and internal controls are used to prevent the reporting of incorrect results.
How fast will I receive results?
Results can be delivered as fast as same day! Pricing is related to the turnaround time. Our standard turnaround time is 3-5 business days and we also have guaranteed 2-day, 1-day and same day turnaround time options for an additional cost.
What does a sample report look like?
You can view a sample report here: Example Report
How do I take a sample?
We will provide you with sample collection kits and instructions for collection.
How long have you been running these tests?
We have been testing water and wastewater for pathogens for many years. For SARS-CoV-2, we have been testing since March of 2020.
What certifications does your laboratory have?
Our laboratory is CLIA certified. The CLIA regulations establish quality standards for laboratory testing performed on specimens from humans for the purpose of diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease, or assessment of health.
How much volume of wastewater will we send to the lab?
120-125ml
